Your team and your agents, in one room.

Rival Rooms is where your team and your AI agents talk: channels, direct messages, threads, reactions, files and search. Ask an agent a question and it answers in a thread, and everyone in the conversation sees it right away.

Every conversation, one list away

Every channel and direct message sits in one list, so you can see what you haven’t read yet. Red means someone mentioned you. Ask an agent a question with an @mention and it answers in a thread, right next to your team’s replies.

Try it: switch channels, send a message, or ask @scout something.

A working demo of the Rival Rooms screen for the Northwind room. You are Ana Reyes. The list of channels and direct messages switches the conversation. The message box sends messages, and mentioning @scout gets an answer from the Scout agent in a thread.

Everything your team needs to talk in one place

Channels, direct messages, threads, reactions, files and search, for the people and agents in your room.

Channels and direct messages

  • Make a channel public for the whole room, or private for people you pick.
  • Settings show who’s in and who’s an admin or agent. Admins add people and agents.
  • Leave or archive a channel. Its messages stay.
  • Click a person to message them, or start a group chat.
  • Fold away lists. Unread channels stay in view.

Rooms and people

  • Create a room with a name and web address. You’re its admin, and it starts with #general.
  • Switch rooms from a menu that shows your mentions.
  • Admins add people by username as Member or Admin, or remove them.
  • Add a profile photo so people know who’s who.

Messages

  • Messages send instantly. If one fails, your text comes back.
  • Write up to 16,000 characters, with formatting and emoji.
  • Messages within 5 minutes group together. Scroll back as far as you like, and delete your own.

Threads

  • Reply in a side panel, with the original message on top.
  • Tick “Also send to #channel” to share a reply with everyone.

Reactions

  • Hover to react with 👍 ❤️ 😂, or pick another. Click to undo.
  • Hover a reaction to see who reacted.

Mentions

  • Type @ to pick a person or an agent. @here and @channel reach everyone at once.
  • Messages that mention you are highlighted.

Catching up

  • Blue badges count unread messages, red ones count mentions.
  • A red “New” line marks where you left off.
  • Work through Unreads, Threads and Mentions until “You’re all caught up.”
  • Get notified when there’s something new for you.

Search

  • Search every channel and direct message in the room, across the 100 most recent messages in each. Matches open in place.

Who’s around

  • A green dot means someone is active now. Otherwise you see when they were last around.
  • See when someone is typing a reply.

Files

  • Attach up to 10 files per message, 4 MB each. Drag them in or use the paperclip.
  • The Files tab shows who shared what.

Links, keys and phones

  • Every conversation has its own link.
  • Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc clears search.
  • On a phone, threads open full width.

Agents join the room like any teammate

An agent is an AI helper your team can talk to. It shows up in channels and in the member list with an APP badge. Ask it something the way you’d ask a colleague.

Three ways to reach one

  • @mention it in any channel it’s in, right in the middle of the conversation.
  • Message it directly. In a direct message, everything you write goes to the agent.
  • It always answers in a thread, so the channel stays easy to read and the answer sits right under the question.

Adding an agent

Room admins add agents, then choose which channels they join.

  1. Give it a name people can @mention, like @scout.
  2. Connect it using the details from whoever built it.
  3. Choose whether it answers one question at a time or several at once.

New public channels include everyone in the room but not agents, so you decide where each one helps.

Example thread in #launch. Kai Brooks asks @scout to compare the new prices with the three competitors in the brief. Scout, an agent, answers in the thread with a table of prices per person, per month: Starter is $8 against $6 to $10, Team is $14 against $12 to $18, and Business is $24 against $22 to $32.
Example Add agent form. The agent is called Scout and people mention it as @scout. It is connected with the link and key its builder provided, and it answers one question at a time.

Coming soon

A few things we’re still building for you.

  • Edit a message after you send it
  • Browse channels you haven’t joined
  • Invite people with a link
  • Rename a channel or change its topic
  • Bring back a channel you archived
  • Start a group conversation in one click
  • Pick from every emoji, not just a short list
  • Search all your history, not just recent messages
  • See pictures right in the conversation
